The Safe Place

The Friendly Fireflies have been working hard this week on our social skills. They were very surprised when after reading, When Sophie Gets Angry-Really, Really Angry...Mrs. Lalumondier became very angry (role-play!)  and had to go to the "Safe Place".  They were then introduced to the "Safe Place" and taught how they can help to calm their bodies once they are there. We have also learned about bullies this week and read several books about how to use our big voice with friends who may need reminders of how we would like to be treated.
During our Alphabet Time, we are reviewing the letters of the alphabet, pointing out capital and lowercase letters, finding the first letter of our names, and working on sound positions (first, middle, and last). Our students have also been introduced to the high frequency words: I, a, and see.
Our Math lessons have been focused on sorting and one to one correspondence up to 3. Today they played "Peek A Boo" math and really enjoyed it.
We are also loving this fall-like weather and playing outside with our friends!

Silly Quote of the week:

"Hey Mrs. Lalumondier, I just had a birthday. I am 52 now!"
