This week, we are starting a new literacy unit of study "Our Neighborhood" and in math we are working on counting by adding one more up to the number 8. Also, we just found out today that Child Development is sending us on a special trip this Thursday!!! Permission slips have been sent home today. Please sign them and return them tomorrow (thank you!) If you can, please write on the form if your child will need a school lunch or if they will bring a lunch from home that day.
Here are some ideas of ways to help with home/school connections:
Ideas for Busy Families
On the Move
In this unit, your child is learning about neighborhoods.
- Point out places in your neighborhood such as schools, parks, and firehouses. Talk about the purpose and use of each place to help your child understand a neighborhood.
- As you pass by each neighborhood place, talk about your experiences with it. Then invite your child to share his or her experiences and opinions about the place.
At Bath and Bed Time
In this unit, your child is learning all about different neighborhoods.
- Before bed time, look through books that show different neighborhoods with your child. Talk about how they are the same and different.
- Then invite your child to talk about what he or she likes best about each neighborhood you review. Ask your child what he or she likes about your neighborhood.
