Making Friends

This week we started our Making Friends unit. One way to make friends is by being kind. The Friendly Fireflies have been talking about ways we can show kindness to others.  You may have noticed your child wearing an orange dot on their hand. Yesterday, we listened to Mrs. Evans read the book A Little Spot of Kindness. After reading the book, we placed orange dot stickers on our hands to remind us to be kind to others. As we continue to learn and grow as a school family, we will continue having these conversations with our friends.
We have introduced the letter "Aa" to our class this week as well as the short Aa sound such as a-a-apple. In our small group rotations, we are: practicing writing the letter A, building the letter A out of 2 big lines and 1 little line, making the sound letter Aa makes, and picking out words that start with the short Aa sound. We are also introducing the high frequency word like.
This week in Math, we are working on mid-module assessments covering the concepts that we have learned so far this year. Our students have also been working one on one with Mrs. Lalumondier completing their myIGDIS math assessments. With this data, we will be able to better focus on each of our student's needs.
Child Development Parent/Teacher conferences will be taking place after all of our Math and Literacy state assessments have been completed.  A sign-up sheet will be going out through email closer to the date.
