We have several important dates on our calendar!  On  Oct. 5^th we have picture day.  You may send  a change of clothes if you don’t want your child to wear their “picture” clothes all day.  We usually go first thing in the morning after breakfast.  So please have them ready when they get here J.

Our first parent/teacher conference is scheduled for Thurs., Oct. 19.  If you are scheduled to meet with Mrs. Graham in October already, we will conduct your conference at that time.  I will email a sign up for the remaining conferences.  These will not take long (approx. 15 mins) as we will mainly be going over their DIAL-4 scores from the summer. 

This week, Mrs. Ohmer's 3rd grade class came to read with us.  We LOVED having them here and can't wait until next week when they come again!  Check out some of the pictures below.  Have a great week!

Welcome to the Friendly Flyer!

We are talking about friends at school this week.  Ask your child questions at home about being a friend.  We have talked about what makes a good friend.  Should friends be helpful or hurtful? What can you do to be a helpful friend? What are things that can be hurtful?  We continue to talk about our commitments (to use watchful eyes, listening ears, kind words, gentle touches, walking feet, and to remember to be a STAR).  Ask your child to tell you about our commitments and why we make them at school.  

Snack Calendars and the Richland 2 Acceptable Snack lists went home last week.  I have attached a copy below as well.  Please check to see what days you are responsible for our class snacks.

We had a great first week of school!  Next week we will start our Blinky’s Buddy of the week.  I have done my best to align the week that your child is Blinky’s Buddy to coincide with their birthday.  This did not work out each time because some friends birthdays are over the summer or holiday breaks and  we also have some children with the same birthdays.  I have worked it out as closely as possible.  Each day of the week, the Blinky’s Buddy will share something special with the class such as a favorite book to read during our Morning Meeting, a favorite toy for show and tell, and will even star in their own puppet show.  They will also have everyone’s favorite class job, line leader! When it is your child’s week to be Blinky’s Buddy, we will send a note home (the week before) explaining everything that is involved.  Every child will have a turn as Blinky’s Buddy!

We are looking forward to an amazing year!
