Fun at the Pumpkin Patch!

We had a great time on our field trip to the pumpkin patch at Fox Farm today!  We went on a hayride, picked pumpkins, and even got to pet some animals!  We so much fun that we didn't want to leave!  To extend the fun and learning into our classroom, we have turned our dramatic play area into a pumpkin patch too.  We are so excited to learn more about pumpkins!  We will talk about how they grow, what is inside, and do lots of fun stuff with pumpkins.  

Next week is College & Career Awareness week at Bookman Road.  Please see the picture below to see what special events are happening each day.

We are continuing our unit on fall.  We have talked about fun things that we do in the fall like apple picking.  Today, we learned about Johnny Appleseed and all of the apple trees that he planted across our country.  We will continue learning about apples and doing some fun apple activities. Next week we will make apple prints in our art interest area. We will work on the Smart board to create patterns with apples and sort apples by color & number.  

 We have scheduled our first field trip to the pumpkin patch at Fox Farm on October 27th. Please see last week's blog for lots of details regarding our trip. 

Don't forget, Skate night is Monday night (Mrs. Lalumondier will be there at 6:00!) We have early dismissal on Thursday and a student holiday on Friday!

Welcome to the Friendly Flyer!

  Wow, I can’t believe it is October already.  The weather is getting nicer and we are enjoying our outside time (in the morning) so much!  We have already begun talking about some of the changes that occur during fall.  During our fall unit, we will include mini studies on apples and pumpkins as well.  

We have scheduled our first field trip to the pumpkin patch at Fox Farm on October 27th. We may be going on a hay ride so jeans or long pants would be best for that.  Remember, we will have your child’s field trip t-shirt here at school.  Those will be put on over their clothes at school. 

 If you would like to be a chaperone  for any of our field trips, you must first watch a video located on the R2CFCD website.  After viewing the video, you must click on two spots (one saying you have watched the video and the other saying you would like to be a chaperone).  Chaperone’s need to drive separately  (you may follow the bus) and pay for their own way.  No siblings are allowed on field trips as you are there to help us with not only your child, but other students as well (and they will keep you busy J).  We do have two family events at the end of the year!
